Already licensed in another state
The state of Nevada doesn't have any reciprocal
agreements with any other states with regards to Real Estate licensing.
Nevada will however, accept proof of pre-licensing education from accredited
schools in states other than Nevada. The student needs a transcript or
certificate from the education showing 45-hours (or 3 credits) in Principles
and Practices and 45-hours (or 3 credits) in Real Estate Law. And then
18-hours of Nevada Law would only be remaining for the candidate to take.
A Broker or Broker-Salesperson candidate also needs to take 45-hours of
Broker Management. Candidates do however, need to sit for Nevada's entire
state examination unless they have taken the examination in another state
within the last year.
Test scores are only good for
one year only so applicants need to apply for their license within one
year from passing the examination. If an applicant has taken the examination
in another state within the last year, contact the Nevada Real Estate
Division. They will decide whether they will accept the scores if they
feel that the examination was comparable to Nevada's.
California: California
requires 45-hours of Principles and Practices prior to initial licensing,
therefore a new California licensee will probably need to take 45-hours
of Real Estate Law which includes the 18-hours of Nevada Law and also
set for the state examination, if they haven't already taken a course
called: Legal Aspects of Real Estate".
Salesperson license reciprocity will be determined by the Division; however, broker and broker-salesperson license reciprocity will be determined by reciprocal agreement between the Nevada Real Estate Commission and another state.
Although there are currently no reciprocal agreements between the Nevada Real Estate Commission and any other state, there have been discussions at recent Commission Hearings regarding this matter.
